Here’s your chance to get a look at Victoria’s newest airfield: a BBQ lunch has been proposed for Sunday 27 January at the new airfield at Inverloch.

The airfield provides a great excuse for a coastal flight via Phillip Island, Cape Paterson and Andersons Inlet for a landing at the coastal town of Inverloch.

A BBQ lunch with snags, salad, tea and coffee will be provided.  Please bring your own water or soft drinks.  Any contributions most welcome. A portable toilet will be in place.

Bunurong Field is located immediately south of the Wonthaggi/Inverloch Road 3 nm west of Inverloch and 5 nm east of Wonthaggi.  The field is not marked on any maps or charts yet.

The approach to RW18 is over power lines (approx 15 m high) which have white and orange balls attached as a warning. The threshold for RW18 is displaced to account for the power lines.  The end part of RW18 has a shallow up-slope.

Also, landing into the west RW27 there is a shallow up-slope about half way along.  Both runways are short grass and mildly cambered. Keep to the centre of the RWs when arriving and departing.

Circuits for RW 18/36 are to the WEST and for 09/27 to the SOUTH.  CTAF is 126.7 and ML CEN 120.0.  Airfield elevation is 160 ft. When inbound and circuit area use the term “BUNURONG FIELD” and your intentions. See image below, but use operationally at your own risk.

Parking is at the northern end of RW 18/36 on the eastern side of the hangar.  There will be a parking director in orange or green hi-viz vests with bats to direct traffic parking.

Arrivals 1000 EST onwards.  BBQ commencing around 1230 EST.

There will be two Tiger Moths flying in from Rosedale that will be orbiting the Inverloch township area in the vicinity of the INLET from 1100  to 1200 EST to celebrate the Regatta on the Inlet. Most likely at the 1000ft to 1500ft level.  They will operate from Bunurong Field.

It would be appreciated, to cater for arrivals or for any further information, to call Michael Malone on 0439 343 843 or Rick Taylor 0448 871 233 and give a heads up if you are flying in.

Please, everyone welcome to make this a memorable day.
